Description:
All original example of an early S&W Army Model 1917 Revolver (caliber: .45 ACP) with 5.5” barrel having half moon front sight and notched rear sight. Manufacturer and caliber marked on left side of barrel. Top of barrel with patent reference. “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” marked under barrel. Inspector marking on left upper frame. Matching assembly numbers (9393) on mating surfaces of frame and crane. Full serial number under barrel, back face of cylinder, under extractor star, and on butt that is additionally marked “US ARMY MODEL 1917”. Lanyard ring present. Fitted with smooth walnut panels, with left panel having a penciled matching serial number. Major components blued with color case hardened hammer, trigger, and lanyard ring. Complete with original U.S. Military holster, belt loop area marked “G.&K./1917/A.G.”
Condition:
VG+% bright original blue with muzzle and sharp edge wear consistent with holstered pistol that has seen light service life. Comparable fading of the color case hardened hammer and trigger. Grips with light scattered handling marks. Excellent bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics with each cylinder locking up tightly. Upper body of holster has been trimmed for easier access, with the balance VG+. A nice, attractive, all original S&W .45 ACP Military revolver from WWI, the holster a bonus.
