Very Scarce High Standard, Military Olympic, Boxed, ML16742, FB01079,
Description:
This is one of the last Olympic variations made by High Standard between 1975-1980, one of only 298 guns, numbered in the military frame ML16644-ML25000 serial range, just before Hi-Standard did its final parts cleanup that morphed into the 1980 Olympic commemoratives. Very unusual to find one of these pistols, with its special thin counterweights and flat bases, complete in its original matching shipping box with styrofoam inserts, parts schematic and original warranty card that was never completed. Even better is that the shipping box was one of the early elongated versions that allowed space for an accessory Hi-Standard box, this example containing a spare .22 Short magazine with an unmarked metal floorplate.
Condition:
EXC with the front lower right edge of the alloy slide having been neatly deburred. Minor handling marks as one might expect from a high quality target pistol that has seen careful use. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. Associated shipping components in the same condition, though the base of the accessory box, holding the spare magazine, has begun to separate. A wonderful and complete ensemble reflecting one of the scarcest Olympic variations that should appeal to any High Standard collector and connoisseur of fine target pistols.
